Disarray – The Darkening

Disarray to release new EP ”The Darkening” on October 24!

In conjunction with the band’s appearance at The Summoning of Darkness Festival in Stockholm, Disarray will release a new EP, The Darkening. The follow-up to last year’s highly acclaimed full length album Religious Disease, is a relentless continuation of raw technical aggression from one of the most promising bands of the young Swedish thrash metal scene.

This time around, the band entered Devo Andersson’s Endarker Studio, famous for crafting some of the most brutal black metal albums in recent years. Brutality aside, Disarray’s aim has been to go both for a more technical direction while also developing a more organic presentation. The result is an astonishingly accomplished offering that shows a more mature band, still steaming with furious anger towards a world gone off the rails.

The EP contains 3 brand new songs, a re-recorded version of the title track from debut album Evil is Reborn, as well as two live tracks. If you are a fan of early Kreator or Dark Angel with a soft spot for Devastation (Chicago) and Morbid Saint, Disarray is for you.

About Disarray

Just like when thrash was new, it’s a global crisis that underlies the new wave of young bands that blend the ethos of punk with the technical dexterity of the metal genre. The difference now is that the very epicenter of the movement has moved significantly closer to the mental precipice where climate crisis, pandemic, AI threats and terror wars make it impossible to numb one’s anxiety with video games or drugs. If Sweden became a hub for death metal when the decadent yuppie era of the 80s was on the autopsy table, Disarray was born right into the galloping chaos and disorder that defines a world in a state of dissolution. Since the start in 2022, Disarray has played extensively on Stockholm’s underground scenes and in the summer of 2023 released the mini-album Evil is Reborn, which caught the eye of Jawbreaker Records and led to the release of 2024’s Religious Disease, an album hailed as a full-on frontal assault of deadly thrash metal. The quartet still shows no signs of slowing down, and on 24 October 2025 the new EP The Darkening will be unleashed. The EP contains 3 brand new songs, a re-recorded version of the title track from Evil is Reborn, as well as two live tracks. Unlike the watered-out, so-called thrash metal that the contemporary scene has become used to these days, Disarray still keep it aggressive, angry and mean – just like how thrash should be played!
